    • pitchTimepiece is one of the greatest inventions, yet the blind population has not been a beneficiary of the invention. Talking watches for the blind is either often prohibitive in public due to the audible disruption or ineffective in loud environment. The only alternative, analog watches with touchable hour and minute hands, is quite fragile especially with usage that requires touch The hands are easily moved even when lightly touched, which is difficult to discern for the blind. The lack of well-designed watches for them makes it more difficult to engage in social and professional activities. Project Dots is developing a watch brand of universal, yet innovative and fashionable designs that appeal to and work well for both the blind and non-blind. We believe that innovative universal design approach can be a powerful and practical solution to the following challenges in providing good products and services to blind community – small market size that leads to low profit potential, and complex user requirements that make the developing process costly and time-consuming. Our collaborative effort with the blind community will not only enhance our chance to serve the blind directly, but also establish a bridgehead for linking together the two seemingly disparate groups-the blind and the non-blind. It will elevate social awareness of the problems the blind community is facing on a daily basis.The success of our business will be a powerful introduction of social entrepreneurthip model.

He was kite production manager for the Emmy award winning documentary ‘Kites over Washington’ and has been a scientific illustrator for the Smithsonian Institution's Arctic Studies Department. He is currently working on his thesis entitled; “Doing the Right Thing for the Wrong Reason” about offering sustainably and socially responsible products to consumers who are not concerned with post consumer waste. Jinha Lee, Technology Lead, Engineer & Designer. Jinha is the Engineering Lead for eone timepieces. An inventor and interaction designer, Jinha works at the intersection of the physical and digital world and the boundary of art and engineering. His recent work includes the first 3D spatial desktop computer prototype and levitated computer interface, which have been featured by CNN, Wired, and exhibited at MIT Museum. In 2010, Jinha’s work was selected as one of the 100 significant innovations by NetExplorateur. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate at the MIT Media Lab. Hyungsoo Kim, Business Strategist: Hyungsoo is a second year MBA student of MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to Sloan, he researched on human circadian clock at the Biological Rhythms Lab at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, after which he worked at KPMG Financial Advisory Services as a senior analyst. Over the past year, Hyungsoo has worked at LARK Technologies, a Silicon Valley start-up, as a project manager to bring more and better sleep to others and helped build LARK's action-oriented sleep assessment and plan. Nick Gu, Design Architect: Nick Gu is a Masters in Architecture candidate at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is originally from Hong Kong and have finished a BA(Architectural Studies) degree at the University of Hong Kong. He worked in the international architecture office Kengo Kuma and Associates in Tokyo where product and furniture design are also part of the office’s services. He was also involved in an exhibition for the 2008 Architecture Biennale in Venice under the Hong Kong design office Eskyiu.Ltd. where a small pavilion was designed to demonstrate planting on the façade of high rise buildings in Hong Kong. Nick will lead the development of the watch mechanism. Brian Murrihy, Product Designer: Brian is a Chartered Civil Engineer with six years of experience working at a leading global Engineering Consultancy, Arup. Prior to undertaking an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of management, Brian was a Senior Engineer and Project Manager working on a number of iconic construction projects in the UK. Brian has extensive experience in leading teams on the design of tall buildings in the London commercial real estate sector, including the 50 story Leadenhall Building and 63 story Pinnacle Building. Amy Ruell, Mentor: Amy is president of the 50-plus member Visually Impaired and Blind User Group (VIBUG) and program manager for the ReadBooks! national children's Braille literacy program for the National Braille Press. Amy will be ProjectDots’ mentor, and VIBUG will continue help us finding effective solutions. Sunish Gupta, Mentor: Sunish is studying at MIT to earn his second master’s in engineering and business through the System Design and Management Program. Since he lost his eyesight nearly 10 years ago due to Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), he has been actively involved in working with NFB and assisted with commercializing the world’s first portable reader for the blind, the knfbReader Classic.
