SATURDAY 9 February 2013
Registration and Coffee – 9:00 - 10:00am
Meet the fellow attendees over coffee and get started networking before our first speaker.
Welcome – 10:00 - 10:15am
Amy Smith from MIT's D-Lab will introduce the conference and talk about social enterprise and international development at MIT. Alistair Horton from Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiative, one of our sponsors, joined us briefly to share a message of their support (video link here).
Keynote – 10:15 - 10:35am
Krista Donaldson from D-Rev will start off the day's sessions by introducing the concept of scaling up a social venture.

Drawing Inspiration – 10:35am - 12:15pm
This session will feature short presentations by Kate Montgomery from d.light, Toshi Nakamura from Kopernik, Anand Narayan from SELCO and David Reich from Assured Labor about how they successfully scaled from a small enterprise to a medium enterprise to a large enterprise and what was different about those transition phases as well as what tools they used to make the process easier.

Lunch – 12:30 - 2:00pm
Enjoy lunch, soak in everything from the morning, continue conversations and recharge for the afternoon.
Applying Lessons Learned – 2:00 - 3:15pm
Hear from Khalida Brohi from Sughar, Kenfield Griffith from mSurvey, Sam Reilley from Community Water Solutions and Jodie Wu from Global Cycle Solutions, all of whom are young social entrepreneurs who have been working on scaling up their ventures over the last few years. The session will study their past failures and successes. The panelists will also discuss their roadblocks and the greatest challenges that they are currently facing and how they plan to overcome them.

Closing – 3:15 - 3:30pm
We will wrap up the conference by featuring two new social enterprises that have just come out of MIT which have received IDEAS Global Challenge Accelerator funding.
This will be the conclusion of the formal conference, though we welcome people to stay and continue conversations.
Design and Mentorship – 3:30 - 5:30pm
Teams in attendance will meet with hand-picked mentors to talk about their product design, their business model, working in their target market and other challenges they are facing. This will be a structured work session aiming to help the participating teams to curate their social venture strategies.
